Phix Launches -- The Journey Begins

Phix was born out of my desire to help people, including myself, live healthier and more energized lives. I always liked the idea of natural solutions and had spent more than enough time in stores trying to figure out which of those eye-dropper bottles of various potions might work for me. Maybe it’s just me, but it was pretty confusing in there. Those bottles were expensive, intimidating and some were down right scary. So I set out to create a company that would do the work to figure out which of those natural ingredients really worked and how best to combine them to create healthy products that truly delivered on their promises.

Creating health and wellness formulations was not something that I had any experience in or was qualified to take on, and so I knew I had to seek out someone to help me. I needed someone with years of experience, who lived and breathed this stuff, who had real industry credibility, and who bought into my vision for delivering uniquely effective products to our customers. Fortunately, it turned out that one of the worlds leading experts in integrative health happened to live up here in Seattle. What I liked about this doctor’s approach was that not only had he founded the nation’s premier alternative health university and run it for 20 plus years, but he was focused on using scientifically proven data to make decisions about what worked and how it worked best. After getting an introduction from a friend we agreed to work together to create a truly unique line of products. I next set out to talk with people throughout the country to learn about what areas in their lives they felt like they could use a little healthy help. Once I had my list together the Dr. and his team scoured their research and relied on their years of first hand experience to create our product formulations. I knew we were trying to do something that no one had done before but as someone new to this business I didn’t realize why that was. Well after a year and a half of very long days I finally understood how hard it is to make something that’s really good for you taste really good. As with most hard work it makes you appreciate reaching your goal that much more, and I am proud to be able to finally introduce Phix to the world.

And who am I? My name is Will Weisman. I grew up on the East Coast before moving out to California to go to school. I’m an entrepreneur at heart and I guess my biggest accomplishment is that I, along with three of my best friends, invented the wrap (you know the burrito like thing) back in 1995. We built a 30 unit restaurant company called World Wrapps that was focused on creating delicious and healthy multi-cultural meals wrapped up inside tortillas. All told, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. After World Wrapps I had some really fortunate opportunities including getting to work at a Seattle based firm called Maveron that was started by Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, and where we got to invest in, and work with, amazing consumer companies such as eBay, Potbelly Sandwich Works and Cranium. It was while there that the idea for Phix was born and I left in late 2006 to launch this company.

My goal with Phix was to create something special, a company where we earned the trust of our customers by everyday delivering on our product promises. It was also extremely important that the company be a good global citizen, which is why we use recycled materials wherever possible, and why we keep our packaging overall to a minimum. And lastly I also felt strongly about creating a company where my colleagues and I would love working. The result is Phix.

My hope is that whether you’re feeling tired and want to live a more energized life, are starting to feel under the weather and want to give your immune system a boost, or are looking for something to help you sleep, you’ll look to Phix to help you meet those needs and others in a healthy natural way that fits with your lifestyle.
